Xlendi, Gozo, Malta
Once you get to the old fishing village of Xlendi then you are in one of the key areas that have a choice of dive centres. The other is Marsalforn. Diving in the bay is very easy. In fact you can kit up with the majority of your gear and walk from any of the dive centres to the sea in less than five minutes. Once there, you can then put the rest of your gear on standing up in waist deep water, and gently submerge checking for leaks etc in the camera housing or strobes.
After Xlendi, there is no more shore diving on the south / west coast until you reach Dwejra which is the main tourist attraction on the island with the Inland Sea, Azure Window and Fungus Rock.
Three dive centres in Xlendi.
Public Toilets near the main car park at the head of the bay.
Loads of apartments to rent.
Stacks of places to eat from small pizza bars up to gourmet level restaurants.
The best ice cream shop on the island!
There are three main dives in Xlendi:
Either side of the bay provides a nice shallow check dive along the rocky walls. The Xlendi Tunnel is directly opposite the fourth / fifth ladder entry points on the northern shore, and the Xlendi Reef is about 300 meters west along the northern shore.
